Asheville City Council approves funding for demolition of Confederate monument of Zebulon Vance. The 75 foot tall statue of the confederate governor is in downtown Asheville and had been a site for recent protest. The statue was voted to be taken down in a 6-1 city council vote and will promptly be removed. This is a good step for North Carolina, as we move towards remembering those who fought for equality and not racism.
